Size & fit guide

Raven Works runs in two fits. Which one a piece uses is stated on its product page, and it changes how you should size it.

If you are between sizes, size to the layer underneath: a shell that has to close over a HACKLE™ midlayer needs the room, a baselayer does not.

The two fits

  • Regular Fit

    Cut close to the body with room for one layer underneath. Used on baselayers, midlayers, insulated jackets and every parka except PREEN™. Take your normal size.

  • Loose Fit

    Built to go over a full kit, with extra room through the shoulders and arms. Take your normal size — the room is already in the pattern. Do not size up unless you want the pants to sit over a boot with a lot of slack.

  • Between sizes?

    Size up on shells and insulated jackets. Size down on baselayers, which are meant to sit against the skin without compressing.

    Returns are free for 30 days, so ordering two sizes and sending one back is a perfectly normal way to buy from us.

Unisex pieces

HACKLE™ jacket, HACKLE™ vest, ROOST™ parka and PREEN™ parka are cut unisex and run S to XL on the men's block. If you normally wear a women's M, take a men's S.

How to measure

Chest

Measure around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, with the tape level all the way round and your arms relaxed at your sides. Do not pull it tight.

Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of the torso, roughly at the navel. For pants, measure where you actually wear the waistband rather than at the natural waist.

Hip

Measure around the fullest part of the seat, standing with your feet together. This is the measurement that matters most for the LEDGE™ parkas, which are cut long.

Sleeve

From the centre back of the neck, across the shoulder, down the outside of a slightly bent arm to the wrist bone. If you ski with your arms up a lot, this is worth checking on a shell.

Sizing for layers

A shell is sized around what goes under it. TALON™ and PREEN™ are already cut Loose to take a midlayer, so take your normal size. MURMUR™ and ROOST™ are Regular and carry their own insulation — they take a baselayer and not much more.

If you plan to run BROOD™ plus HACKLE™ plus a shell, and you are at the top of a size on chest, take the next size up in the shell only.
